Saturday 2nd July

Day 3
Kreinitz to Torgau - 25.7 miles

We watched Wales beat Belgium last night so had plenty to talk about with the owner over breakfast. He actually had plenty to say on any subject so we were quite relieved when his wife called him to eat his breakfast.

                         Through the Wald

Cycling was really pleasant towards Muhlberg but the clouds on the horizon were looking increasingly threatening.

                       Then the rain came

Eventually waterproof tops were needed and as we arrived in the cafe in Belgern the waitress wondered if we were wet from the rain or sweat. It was both! To make up for the discomfort we munched our way through a couple of cream horns.

                              Sheltering

When the rain stopped we ventured out to visit Roland who happened to reside on the front of the Rathaus and was 6m tall.
The final dash to Torgau saw us miss the storm again and after a sandwich in the square we spent a pleasant couple of hours walking around and visiting the huge Schloss which dominated this pretty little town

After finding our Pension we went out for a meal before watching Germany v Italy.
The beer of the day, a Radler Pils, was taken from the room fridge and saw me through the penalty shoot out. How come the Germans won after taking penalties like England.
